More about Firing in Ocala Mall Florida
Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken told reporters on Saturday evening that the incident occurred in a common area of the Paddock Mall in Ocala, located about 80 miles north-northeast of Orlando, after the person was shot multiple times.
The police revealed that a woman shooted by a gunshot into her leg. Balken stated that the suspect fled the scene and leave the weapon there. Police arrived at the mall around 3:40 in the afternoon, after getting several reports of gunfire inside the mall
Balken told reporters, “Officers immediately entered the mall and ultimately determined that it was not an active shooter we would consider.”
Several people were injured due to the shooting. Multiple other mall security guards were hurt during the shooting, according to police, including one who suffered a broken hand and another who had chest pain.
An email inquiry was sent to WPG, the mall’s owner, which houses dozens of stores, including J.C. Penney and Foot Locker.
Kelvin and Diana Amos, who were shopping at the J.C. Penney store, told the Ocala Star-Banner that as soon as they learned what was happening, they immediately cleared the store and they described feeling scared and alarmed.
